Everyone should be able to take part
Teen IGF is a youth movement, and young people arrive with a wide range of access needs — low vision, colour blindness, dyslexia, ADHD, motor differences, deafness, slow connections and shared or borrowed devices. If our website locks any of them out, we have failed at the thing we exist to do.
Our target is WCAG 2.2 level AA — the current W3C recommendation, which W3C advises for all new and updated websites.
Conformance status
Partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. “Partially conformant” means some parts of the site do not yet fully meet the standard. We publish this honestly rather than claim a level we have not reached.

Known gaps, and when we will close them
These are the issues our own audit found. They are being worked on in this order.
Form fields rely on placeholder text instead of labels
Our join, volunteer, ambassador, contact and request forms show the field name inside the box, which disappears as soon as you start typing and is not reliably announced by screen readers. Every field is being given a permanent visible label.
Forms give no error messages
If a required field is missed, nothing explains what went wrong or how to fix it. We are adding inline errors that name the field, describe the problem, and are announced to screen readers.
Some accent colours fall below the contrast minimum
Our green and orange accents, and one light grey used for dates and captions, do not reach 4.5:1 against white at small sizes. Darker variants are being adopted for text while the original colours stay for large graphics.
Images have no text alternatives yet
Photographs and advisor portraits are still being described. Decorative images will be hidden from screen readers; meaningful ones will carry a description of what they show.
No skip link, and page landmarks are incomplete
Keyboard and screen-reader users currently have to pass the whole navigation on every page. A skip link and proper header, navigation, main and footer landmarks are being added site-wide.
Animation removed
All motion, transitions and moving content have been removed from the site rather than only reduced, so there is nothing that can trigger discomfort or distraction.
Compatibility
The site is built to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile, in combination with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack. It should remain usable with browser zoom to 200%, with a keyboard alone, with custom colours or a stylesheet of your own, and on a slow connection.
The site does not rely on animation, autoplaying media, drag gestures, hover-only interactions or time limits.

If something on this site blocked you, we want to hear about it — you do not need to know the technical name for the problem. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. If you can, tell us the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.

We aim to acknowledge every report within 5 business days and to tell you what we intend to do about it. If a fix will take time, we will offer another way to get what you needed in the meantime.
How this statement is maintained
This statement was prepared on 15 August 2026 following a self-assessment of every page. It is reviewed whenever we ship a significant change, and at minimum every six months.
Accessibility is treated as a release requirement at Teen IGF, not a later improvement: nothing is published until it has passed the twelve checks above.
